The LEX Hunter Jumper Summer Series
The LEX Hunter Jumper Summer Series
The LEX Hunter Jumper Summer Series is the premier destination for English equestrian athletes in the Kawartha Lakes region. Designed to celebrate the grace of the Hunter ring and the precision of the Jumper ring, this series provides a professional yet welcoming competitive environment for riders of all experience levels.
Whether you are a young rider making your debut in the Leadline division or a seasoned competitor aiming for the Jumper stakes, the series offers a structured path to showcase your horse’s talent and your own equitation.

The Competitions: Form vs. Function
The series is split into two distinct disciplines, each challenging the horse-and-rider bond in different ways:
-
The Hunters: These classes are judged on the horse’s style, movement, and form over fences. Judges look for a smooth, rhythmic pace and a "picture-perfect" jumping technique that demonstrates the horse’s suitability as a fox hunter.
-
The Jumpers: It’s all about the clock and the rails. In the Jumper ring, style takes a backseat to speed and accuracy. The goal is to complete the course within the time allowed without knocking down any obstacles.
Division Highlights
The series is carefully curated to include divisions that cater to every stage of development:
-
Beginner (Walk/Trot): Perfect for riders aged 13 and under who are new to the show ring.
-
Open Hunter (2’0” to 2’6”): Featuring Hunter Under Saddle, Equitation on the Flat, and Over Fences classes to test versatile riding skills.
-
Jumper Divisions (0.60m to 0.90m): High-energy Table A and Table C Speed classes, culminating in the prestigious 0.90m Jumper Stake.
-
Leadline: A crowd favourite that introduces the next generation of equestrians to the magic of the show ring.
Up Coming Events
Series Championship & The Grand Finale
While the individual shows offer their own rewards, the LEX Hunter Jumper Summer Series emphasizes consistency. Riders accumulate points throughout the season, leading to the Year-End Division Championships. The series culminates during the Lindsay Exhibition in September, where the final points are tallied, and the Champions and Reserve Champions are crowned under the bright lights of the fairgrounds.
