Jason Petty began portraying the legend, Hank Williams, on country music’s biggest stage in 1996…the world famous Ryman Auditorium, in the critically acclaimed musical biography, Lost Highway. After two years, he began touring the US and Canada with the show. In 2002-3, the show went to the New York and made its Off Broadway debut. Jason earned Off Broadway’s highest acting award, The Obie, for his riveting portrayal of the musical genius and tortured soul, Hank Williams.
During his research on Hank, Petty met, and became friends, with Williams’ friends, family members, musicians and fellow Grand Ole Opry stars. They took him into their confidence and shared intimate details of this legend’s life and career. From the good times to the hard times, Jason listened and began to understand this man like no other.
Now, Jason brings that intimate story to audiences all across the country in his new one man tribute: JASON PETTY: HANK WILLIAMS – THE LONESOME TOUR.
Jason has been lauded for his storytelling ability, with his down-home humor and southern charm. His singing of Williams’ classic songs is the best there’s ever been, according to Don Helms (Hank’s best friend and steel guitar player) and many, many others. Reviewers from the New York Times, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly and the Tennessean have raved about his spot on portrayal of Hank.
This will be an evening your audience will never forget. More than a tribute. Legendary songs and legendary stories of the most influential man in country music history. There’s only one who can bring him to life.
