Frequently Ask Questions (FAQ)

Q. When is the fair?
A:
The 2009 Lindsay Central Exhibition will run Wednesday September 23rd through Sunday September 27th.

Q. What are the Admission rates? Are advance passes available?
A:
Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for youth and seniors and FREE for Children 12 and under. On-site parking costs $5. There are no advance gate passes.

Q. Is camping available on site?
A:
Camping is available for some events held at the fairgrounds throughout the year; however we do not have sufficient space to offer camping during the Exhibition at this time. There are a number of campgrounds nearby who would be happy to accommodate you while you visit the Lindsay Central Exhibition and the beautiful Kawartha Lakes. Q. What time do the gates & buildings open?
A:
Admission Gates will open daily at 8:00 am, Buildings will open Wednesday at 12 Noon; Thursday to Sunday at 10:00 am. For more scheduling details, visit the ‘Entertainment’ or ‘Livestock Schedule’ pages.

Q. How do I get to the fairgrounds?
A:
Directions can be found by clicking on ‘Directions’ on the top navigation bar.

Q. How do I make an entry?
A:
Prize lists, complete with entry details & forms, can be downloaded from the ‘Prize Lists’ page, or exhibitors may contact the Lindsay Central Exhibition office at .

Q. How do children enter work in the fair?
A:
Students who attend school in the City of Kawartha Lakes may enter junior arts, crafts & produce exhibits through their school with no fee required (please contact your school co-coordinator). Students who reside in the City of Kawartha Lakes and attend school outside the municipality or are home schooled may enter through the Fair office. Please contact the office prior to Friday September 18th at 5:00 p.m. for further directions. Youth classes in Homecraft division are listed in the ‘Homecraft’ Prize List PDF, 209KB (page 12). Children entering items in the open divisions are required to pay the standard Administration Fee.

Q. When can I get my competition entries back?
A:
Exhibits are to be picked up Monday, Sept 28, 2009 (10 am – 7 pm), or during the remainder of the week (9 am – 4 pm).

Q. What's happening day-by-day in the way of Entertainment during the fair?
A:

Q. Is there an additional charge to view grandstand shows (i.e. Concerts, Demo Derbies, Truck & Tractor Pulls)?
A:
All grandstand shows during the five days of the Exhibition are FREE with your gate admission. The Tuesday Night Pre-Fair Concert featuring Doc Walker & The Trews (link) cost $20 per person.

Q. Is there a Bank Machine on the grounds?
A:
A Bank Machine is located in the Farmers’ Mutual Exhibition Building.

Q. How do I apply for vendor space at the fair?
A:
Persons interested in applying for vendor space must submit a completed Concession Application Form to the Lindsay Central Exhibition office. Further details, including the application form and rules & regulations can be found on our concession page. Please note, applications for candy or food vendors are not being accepted at this time.

Q. Are there some local accommodations near the fairgrounds that you could recommend?
A:

Q. Where can I get agri-food industry education material for my students?
A:
Ontario Agri-Food Education Inc. (www.oafe.com) provides a wide variety of resource material and information that enhances the ability of teachers and learners to understand the value and importance of an agri-food system. All resources link the content and agri-food concepts to the curriculum expectations in the Ontario Ministry of Education Curriculum Guidelines. Teachers are also encouraged to visit the Agricultural Awareness displays located in the Agriculture-Horticulture Pavilion for curriculum based educational resources.

Q. Can we bring our dog to the Fair?
A:
Dogs are not permitted on the grounds with the exception of guide dogs and dogs participating in the Children’s Dog Show on Sunday morning which are allowed for the duration of the Dog Show only & must leave the grounds immediately following the show. Please keep in mind that this policy is for the safety of our patrons as well as for your pet. While your dog may be accustomed to the presence of farm animals and/or crowds, not every animal competing at our event is accustomed to dogs and could inadvertently injure your pet causing you a great financial and emotional burden. For the love and safety of your pet, please leave your dog at home!

A:
