Facts & Figures

The Lindsay Agricultural Society is the governing body of the Lindsay Central Exhibition.

The first Lindsay Central Exhibition was held in 1854.

The Lindsay Central Exhibition is a five day event, commencing each year on the third Wednesday following Labour Day.

The goal of the Lindsay Agricultural Society is to present agriculture in a manner that is both educational and entertaining to the rural and urban population. As a not-for-profit organization, activities are financed through community minded individuals; service clubs; small business; corporations; professional practices; and volunteer operated fundraising functions.

Governed by a 16 member Board of Directors, the Lindsay Agricultural Society has over 30 committees, comprised of over 300 volunteers who work together to stage the annual Exhibition.

Based on the amount of prize money paid to agricultural exhibitors, Lindsay Central Exhibition is classified as an 'A' fair by Ontario's Agricultural Societies Act (Classifications are A, B, & C).

The Lindsay Central Exhibition is the single largest annual event in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

LCE is a member of the North American Six Horse Hitch Classic Series Inc.

As host of the East Central Ontario 4-H Championship Show, the Lindsay Central Exhibition is a qualifying event for 4-H members to compete at the Royal Winter Fair in November.

The Exhibition has an average of approximately 7,000 entries each year.

2001 commemorated the 60th Anniversary of the Fountain in our Park. Dedicated September 13, 1941 to the Children of Great Britain, funds were raised for this fountain through the Evening Telegram British War Victims' Fund. 'The Boy with the Boot' bronze statue, which tops the granite base, was donated to the War Fund by a Toronto artist. The statue represents "the cause of a needy and suffering humanity" during the war.

About the Lindsay Agricultural Society

The Lindsay Agricultural Society (LAS) was formed in 1854 for the purpose of encouraging an awareness of agriculture and promoting improvements in the quality of life of persons living in the agricultural community and beyond.   Throughout the society’s 155 years, it has remained loyal to its mandate, consistently promoting the agricultural community and forging ties through the region with service clubs, youth groups, and other organizations.  The LAS annually hosts the Lindsay Central Exhibition, the fourth-largest agricultural fair in Ontario.  The new LAS facilities have hosted numerous other shows and events including prestigious livestock shows, agricultural specialty shows, home and craft shows, trade shows and consumer shows; all of which add strength to the fabric of the community and agricultural life.

As a not-for-profit organization, LAS activities are financed through community minded individuals, service clubs, small business, corporations, professional practices, and volunteer operated fundraising functions. Governed by a 16 member Board of Directors, the LAS has over 30 committees, comprised of over 300 volunteers, who work together to stage the annual exhibition and other events throughout the year.
