2nd Annual All About Horses Another Success -

Lindsay, ON -   The Lindsay Agricultural Society’s 2nd annual All About Horses, which took place at the Lindsay Fairgrounds on 4th,  5th and 6th,  has been deemed another successful event by its organizers, exhibitors and participants, despite rainy weather throughout the weekend.

The event was kicked off on Friday night with a horse pull featuring a large contingency of local teams.   On Saturday and Sunday, attendees enjoyed Tom Bishop’s Wild West Show, and happily lined up to meet Terry Grant, the Mantracker.  Throughout both days a variety of heavy- and light-horse demonstrations and exhibits, including breed displays, and riding and driving presentations kept the crowds entertained.   A large number of spectators enjoyed the field horse demonstrations on Saturday, and the teamsters and handlers were kept busy with free wagon and pony rides  both days.    Sunday’s Parade of Stallions featured a number of first class award winning breeding stallions from the area.
More than 100 children completed  the educational questionnaire in the hopes of winning a new bicycle, donated by Home Hardware of Lindsay and All About Horses Committee members Phil Vowles and Pieter Van Oudernaren.   Audrey Eyers of Lindsay, Jacob O’Malley of Bowmanville and Eve Faulkner of Fenelon Falls were presented with  their prizes on June 14th.
Members of the volunteer committee organizing the event wish to express their sincere appreciation to all the exhibitors, presenters, sponsors and vendors who helped to make the weekend a success.  All of the proceeds from the event will be used to support the Lindsay Agricultural Society, a not-for-profit organization committed to encouraging an awareness of agriculture and promoting improvements in the quality of life of persons living in the agricultural community and beyond.

Plans are now underway for the 3rd edition of All About Horses, taking place the last weekend in May 2011.  Interested exhibitors, participants, and vendors are asked to contact Bev Roy at the Lindsay Agricultural Society (705) 324-5551, , or Chris Moses, Committee Chair at cmoses@bell.net.
