2007 Lindsay Central Exhibition

While the tastes, sounds and scents of the fair were familiar this year, the facilities were new and exciting for the more than 50,000 people who took in the first Lindsay Central Exhibition held at the new location.

Visitors from around the world came for the premier livestock shows.  The National Milking Shorthorn Show had a Chinese delegation and the Holstein Show had guests from Russia.  The International Goat Symposium, held in Lindsay for a second consecutive year, included a visit to the East National Dairy Goat Show hosted this year at the Lindsay Central Exhibition.

Several vendors in the Exhibition Building struggled to keep up with the demands of the crowds.  One food vendor reported 2007 being his best year out of the 39 years he has been a part of the Lindsay Central Exhibition.

Despite some doubt in the community that the grounds would not be built in time for the Exhibition, members of the Lindsay Agricultural Society proudly received countless compliments on the new facilities.

There were of course some first year glitches – particularly around traffic control and parking.  This will be one of the major issues that the Society will be looking to address before next year’s Exhibition.

The free shuttle bus helped to alleviate a great deal of excess traffic and is certainly a service that the Society will consider continuing to provide for future years.

The Lindsay Agricultural Society extends heartfelt thanks to all of those who helped to make the 153rd Lindsay Central Exhibition such a resounding success – especially the volunteers, exhibitors, patrons and contractors.  Furthermore, the Society invites all attendees to share constructive ideas for improving the fair and other events held at the new facilities.
